Injectables: Muscle Relaxant

Cosmetic Uses

We use a muscle relaxant for the treatment of frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crows feet. These wrinkles are caused by muscle action. A muscle relaxant injected in the lower face can be very effective in redefinition of the jawline, treating a “gummy smile” and vertical neck bands.

It can give a brighter, fresher, less tired appearance while looking natural. The final outcome is dependent on the dosage used. Detailed facial assessment and tailoring to your individual needs is very important to attain the best result.

The effects wear off after 3-4 months in most people. Complications are very rare and reversible. They include bruising (disappears in 1 week), headache (v rare most people with regular headaches experience a reduction in these symptoms), heavy eyelid or brow (wears off in 6 weeks and is dependent on the patient’s anatomy and injecting technique and usually can be avoided), asymmetrical smile or corner of mouth drooping (wears off in 6 weeks and is dependent on the patient’s anatomy and injecting technique and usually can be avoided).

Medical Uses

Sweating in other body sites: is often best treated by other means. In select cases botulinum toxin can be used,
