Waiting Times

We do understand the time constraints everyone faces these days. While our staff try very hard to advise you of any prolonged delays they do not and cannot know (due to patient confidentiality) what goes on in the consultation room.

Many skin complaints can be dealt with within the allocated time. However, other conditions can be more complex.  Our appointment system tries to incorporate these differences but by the very nature of the work, we cannot be exact.  Again, the front desk staff cannot ask or do not know what the medical complaint is and how long it will take to sort out because of confidentiality issues.

Reasons for lengthier appointments may be due to:

  1. A more complex dermatological problem/medical history
  2. A serious skin cancer which needs to be removed or biopsied on the spot or a very distressing rash
  3. A patient who has travelled a long distance (e.g. our rural patients) who has several different problems which all need to be dealt with at the same appointment.
  4. An urgent appointment request from a GP.
  5. A request to review a wound, laser or UVB patient by our nursing staff.

We understand your frustration if your appointment is delayed. We would be grateful however if you do not vent your anger at the front office staff as it is not their fault.  They are doing everything possible to ensure that the wait time is as short as possible.

We are mindful of keeping in touch with our staff if it appears to be a significant delay from our end.

Rest assured that delays ARE NOT because of lengthy lunch breaks, chatting or internet surfing!

Hopefully, this helps you understand some of the issues leading to delays with your appointment time and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
