Dr Anita Patel

MBBS (Syd), MMed (Syd), FACD

Dr Anita Patel has been a practicing dermatologist working in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney for over 15 years. She is very much a general dermatologist with broad experience treating the medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatological conditions of both adults and children.

Dr Anita Patel was born in Tanzania to parents of Indian heritage. She emigrated to Australia as a very young child.

She was educated at Ascham School and proceeded to study her medical degree at The University of Sydney. During her Junior Medical Officer years she became excited by the prospect of studying dermatology and undertook a Masters of Medicine degree in skin cancer and the immune system in the Professorial Dermatology Department of Sydney University. This scientific research has been published in various dermatological journals.

After spending a year in Darwin working in the Communicable Diseases Centre, she completed her postgraduate clinical dermatology training through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and The Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Patel has provided rural outreach services to Darwin Hospital and the community of Wagga Wagga when there were no dermatologists servicing these areas in the 1990’s.

She had a public appointment at St Vincent’s Hospital for 8 years where she enjoyed teaching dermatology registrars and medical students in all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology.

Dr Patel has been involved in laser treatments since her training years at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital treating birthmarks in children. She has many years of experience using lasers and light therapies for the treatment of all dermatological conditions – aesthetic, surgical and medical.

As well as being a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, she is a member of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists ASCD, a body of dermatologists whose priority is to bring safety and excellence into the cosmetic medical arena.


Sarah Hannam

Sarah has recently relocated to Sydney from Melbourne. She brings with her a broad exposure and experience in specialty dermatology areas including skin cancer, and all aspects of general medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Sarah is originally from South Australia, and completed her dermatology training in Melbourne, at all the major hospitals, with a fellowship year at University College Hospital in London. She has held consultant positions at the Alfred Hospital, Skin Health Institute and Peter McCallum Cancer Institute, and has spent time in Fiji contributing to clinics, research and education.

Dr Penelope Alexander

Consultant Dermatologist

Penny was awarded a Fellowship with the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2014 after undertaking 4 years of rigorous training in major teaching hospitals in metropolitan Sydney and rural NSW. Since then, Penny has worked as a consultant Dermatologist in private practice in Sydney’s Eastern and Northern suburbs and is actively involved in registrar teaching at The Skin Hospital in Darlinghurst. 

Penny is very thorough and likes to take the time to build rapport with her patients. She has broad experience in all areas of Dermatology, including both adults and children. 

She has a special interest in treating acne, having suffered from it personally. She enjoys the challenge of finding and treating skin cancers, using both surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. She is accredited to use botulinum toxin (BotoxR) for underarm hyperhidrosis and for aesthetic indications.  She has extensive experience in laser dermatology treatments for both medical (rosacea/scarring) and aesthetic indications. 

Originally from Moree, Penny attended high school at NEGS in Armidale before undertaking a Bachelor of Medicine at UNSW, graduating in 2006. Penny is married and has 2 young children and 2 very spoilt Boston terriers.

Dr Zachary Boyce

General Specialist Dermatologist

Dr Zachary Boyce is a general specialist Dermatologist and fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Dr Boyce provides general medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology for his patients. He has a special interest in skin cancer, and surgery. He brings extensive experience treating all aspects of medical and aesthetic dermatology including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and skin ageing.

He completed his training in Queensland, working at The Queensland Institute of Dermatology, Greenslopes Private Hospital, Cairns Hospital, Mater Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital, Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital and Royal Brisbane Hospital. He obtained his Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degrees at the University of Queensland having spent some time training overseas at Cedars-Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Dr Boyce has conducted and published multiple research projects at the Dermatology Research Centre through the University of Queensland at Princess Alexandra Hospital, and at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Centre for Excellence in Sun and Health. His research presentations have earned him multiple awards at the Australasian College of Dermatologists’ annual meetings and allowed his publications to be recognised in Australia and Internationally.

He enjoys teaching medical students and junior doctors, through his role of Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland.

Dr Catherine McKay

Specialist Dermatologist

Dr Catherine McKay is a Specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. Dr McKay graduated from medical school with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2006 at the University of Queensland. Her extensive dermatology training was undertaken both in Australia (St Vincent’s Hospital, Darlinghurst; Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick; Royal Newcastle Centre/John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle) and the United Kingdom (Clatterbridge Hospital, Bebington, Wirral; St John’s Institute of Dermatology, London). She has also spent time training in NSW rural areas such as Coffs Harbour and Bourke.

Dr McKay is degree qualified in Dietetics (Honours, First Class) and holds a Graduate Certificate in Wound Care (Monash University, Victoria).  She has a keen interest in all aspects of general dermatology and has had specific training in varied areas of practice including photodermatology, paediatrics, immunobullous disease, gynaecological dermatology, skin cancer, rosacea, cosmetic dermatology and dermatological surgery.

Dr McKay is also involved in the teaching and training of dermatology registrars, holding a monthly clinic as a Visiting Medical Specialist at the Royal Newcastle Centre in Newcastle. A keen presenter, Dr McKay has delivered seminars to fellow dermatologists, general practitioners, nurses and medical students both in Australia and abroad on a range of topics including Acne Management; Psoriasis; Nail disorders; Rosacea; Leprosy; Gynaecological Dermatology, Skin Cancer and Wound Healing and has a number of papers published in peer reviewed dermatology [NC1] journals. She currently oversees training of dermatology registrars and was elected Director of Training for the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2021.
