Dr Anita Patel

Dermatologist
MBBS (Syd), MMed (Syd), FACD

Dr Anita Patel has been a practicing dermatologist working in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney for over 15 years. She is very much a general dermatologist with broad experience treating the medical, surgical and aesthetic dermatological conditions of both adults and children.

Dr Anita Patel was born in Tanzania to parents of Indian heritage. She emigrated to Australia as a very young child.

She was educated at Ascham School and proceeded to study her medical degree at The University of Sydney. During her Junior Medical Officer years she became excited by the prospect of studying dermatology and undertook a Masters of Medicine degree in skin cancer and the immune system in the Professorial Dermatology Department of Sydney University. This scientific research has been published in various dermatological journals.

After spending a year in Darwin working in the Communicable Diseases Centre, she completed her postgraduate clinical dermatology training through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and The Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Patel has provided rural outreach services to Darwin Hospital and the community of Wagga Wagga when there were no dermatologists servicing these areas in the 1990’s.

She had a public appointment at St Vincent’s Hospital for 8 years where she enjoyed teaching dermatology registrars and medical students in all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology.

Dr Patel has been involved in laser treatments since her training years at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital treating birthmarks in children. She has many years of experience using lasers and light therapies for the treatment of all dermatological conditions – aesthetic, surgical and medical.

As well as being a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, she is a member of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists ASCD, a body of dermatologists whose priority is to bring safety and excellence into the cosmetic medical arena.

Dr Penelope Alexander

Consultant Dermatologist
MBBS B.Sc(Med), FACD 

Penny was awarded a Fellowship with the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2014 after undertaking 4 years of rigorous training in major teaching hospitals in metropolitan Sydney and rural NSW. Since then, Penny has worked as a consultant Dermatologist in private practice in Sydney’s Eastern and Northern suburbs and is actively involved in registrar teaching at The Skin Hospital in Darlinghurst.

Penny is very thorough and likes to take the time to build rapport with her patients. She has broad experience in all areas of Dermatology, including both adults and children.

She has a special interest in treating acne, having suffered from it personally. She enjoys the challenge of finding and treating skin cancers, using both surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. 

Originally from Moree, Penny attended high school at NEGS in Armidale before undertaking a Bachelor of Medicine at UNSW, graduating in 2006. Penny is married and has 3 young children and 2 very spoilt Boston terriers.

Dr Amanda Regio Pereira

Consultant Dermatologist
MD, MS, PhD, FACD

Dr Amanda Regio Pereira has been practicing Dermatology in public hospitals and private practice since 2014.

She was born in Brazil and relocated permanently to Australia after being recruited for her expertise in the early diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and skin cancers. Amanda underwent a rigorous process of specialist recognition to become a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

Following her specialist training in general Dermatology, Amanda completed additional subspecialty training in onco-dermatology in Australia (melanoma, skin cancers, dermoscopy and confocal microscopy).

Alongside her clinical appointments, Amanda has been committed to research and teaching of medical students and junior doctors through her affiliation with the University of Sydney and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. She completed a PhD on melanoma and she has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed publications and has presented her work nationally and internationally.

Dr Lisa Abbott

Dr Lisa Abbott is a specialist Dermatologist and Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. She graduated from Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2012, following previous degrees in Law, Government & Public Administration. 

Lisa completed her specialist dermatology training across several tertiary hospitals in New South Wales and Victoria, including St. Vincent’s Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, the Royal Women’s Hospital (Melbourne) and the Austin Hospital, as well as multiple regional and rural placements. 

Lisa takes pride in providing warm, patient-focused dermatological care. In addition to general medical and surgical dermatology, her special interests include acne management, and treatment of inflammatory skin conditions including management with biologic agents where appropriate. 

Outside of medicine she enjoys swimming in the ocean, songwriting and photography.
